TECsteam – Motive Steam Cooler

TECsteam Motive Steam coolers are used in steam cooling applications in which classic injections can only be used to a limited extent:

• Low steam pressures
• Cooling to close to saturated steam conditions
• High water/steam ratio ratios
• Low water temperature

The use of motive steam with more than twice the pressure compared to the process steam to be cooled enables microscopically fine atomisation of the supplied water.

By using motive steam and accelerating it to the speed of sound within a Venturi nozzle, the water added radially in the Venturi nozzle chamber is torn into microscopically fine droplets. This "atomisation" of the water causes the much faster evaporation of the water while maintaining short outlet distances. This makes motive steam coolers particularly suitable for applications with low steam pressures and the objective of cooling as close as possible to the saturated steam level. An additional control valve is required to regulate the injection water volume.
